Advanced nurse practitioners

If your problem is urgent and you think you need urgent attention, then in the majority of cases you will be given an appointment to be seen by our nurse practitioner. The nurse practitioner can undertake an initial assessment, take a medical history, carry out a physical examination, diagnose, treat, analyse test results and refer patients.

Practice nurses

Our nurses offer appointments between 8:30am and 5:20pm, Monday to Friday. If you wish to see the nurse for more than one problem, please let us know so that you may be given a longer appointment.

Text message reminders

You will now receive information by text message on your phone regarding appointments and healthcare.

If practices are sending messages about recommended treatment for the management of a specific health issue, then this is defined as providing appropriate care for patients, not marketing purposes.

If you would like to opt out of any future contact via text messaging, then please contact the practice.

If you need help when we are closed

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
  • if you need an interpreter
  • if you have any other access or communication needs

Home visits

If you are too ill to come to the surgery, a home visit may be requested. Whenever possible, please contact us on 01603 486602 before 10:30am. It will be helpful if you give the receptionist some details of the patient’s condition, as this will help the doctors to plan their visits.

It would be appreciated if patients could attend the surgery when possible, as home visits are extremely time consuming and often do not allow for full examination, investigation and treatment.

Lack of transport is not a valid reason for a home visit. Our reception team can assist you with information on how to arrange transport. You may also receive a telephone call from a doctor to discuss the need for a visit.
